Dearest God,

After our morning devotion we drove down a dirt road that led us to the rocky coast.  As we oohed and aah ed, we walked down the beach in search of treasures.  We listened to the silence and watched the quiet waves form and wash delicately upon shore.  I looked over at the mainland where the ferry departs for the island and returns several times daily.  It was then I realized a simple truth.  We cannot live alone apart from you.  We need a way to come to you.

I think of the countless means of transportation to your heart.  I think of spiritual friends, music, nature, and the sound of silence pregnant with color, mercy, and insights.  You give us many ways to find our way to you whether we are just around the corner or far, far away.  And sometimes we come on our own discovering our own separateness from you and our desire to move closer.  No matter the journey to your heart is always a good one.

Glorious God,
thank you
for the desire
and the means
to make
our way
to you.
Thank you
for all
the resources meant
to draw us back.
You are
a good God,
full of compassion
and love.

Forever yours, Andrea
