Dearest God,

This morning I awakened thinking of time.  In my inner thoughts I considered your measure of time not in seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years but rather in heart-felt affection and connection. Are we close?  Do we move forward taking steps toward you?  Do our hearts beat with passion for the creator of the cosmos?  Do we breathe the air of your spirit?

Sometimes we get so caught up in time we forget the value of an eternal life with you.  I am not talking about life after death.  I am talking about life in life, our life with you now, your life with us, the sacred bond every human has been given by the one who made us.  Often we diminish the space in which we live thinking instead of time increments.  Life with you is timeless.  As we focus on you, time melts away into love, faith, hope, serenity, and joy.

Teach us
your way,
O Lord;
help us keep
our eyes
on you.
