Dear God,

This morning I smelled the scent of Autumn.  The air was cool, the flowers looked a little tired, and Fall spoke, "Not much longer, it is my turn."

Your seasons remind us nothing remains forever.  Everything upon the earth is temporal, never meant to remain the same.  A seed is planted.  The rain falls and the seed begins to grow.  One day it breaks through the crusty soil.  A tiny sprout rises in the sunshine.  Before long its bud opens and blossoms.  It stands tall, beautiful, swaying in the breeze, proud to be an exquisite flower.  Later, its petals fall.  Its roots, invisible, feed during the winter resting in its labors.  Then Spring comes again.

So often, Lord, we want to hang on to things, to make them remain the same.  We don't want anything to change.  We don't want the challenge of transformation.  We want life easy, uncomplicated.  And yet, the seasons teach us valuable lessons of faith.  We can be renewed.  We can find new life.  We can be reenergized.  We can surrender the old that weighs us down.  We can find the new and let it remake us.  We can live in the light and find warmth and joy.  We can rise to greater heights and know the glory of the Lord!

Teach us
to trust you,
to release,
and to move
with you.
Show us
the way,
O Lord.
Make and
remake us
until we
are like you.

Love always, Andrea
