Dear God,

My garden sunbonnet is full of holes.  Ragged at its edges, I love it because it takes me back sixty plus years ago when my grandmother wore a similar one.  Every time she worked in her garden she wore her bonnet.  I was intrigued with it then but even more so today.

It is amazing to me how simple things can speak profound messages.  That is how I always know your hand is in it.  A small piece of worn out fabric takes me back to my grandmother whose faith was the sweetest I have ever known.  And her faith became mine as I watched her show love in so many ways in church, in her teeny community of 500 and in our family.  She spilled so much love on us that we are still filled with it although she died nearly 40 years ago.

You have shown us how faith can make love grow.  And a simple sunbonnet can get us there.

Holy God,
full of love
for all
your children,
thank you
for your kindness.
Thank you
for sunbonnets,
grandmothers and faith.

Love, Andrea
