Dear God,
Cracks, holes and splits. That's what happens in centuries-old houses. And every one has to be filled, sanded, filled again, sanded again, primed and painted. Yet, when they are finished, it is as though they never existed.
That is so like your love, O Lord. We all have cracks, holes and splits in our souls. So many places where hurts, disappointments, betrayals, neglect and abuse reside. We all need filling and there is no one like you to fill them.
I have experienced your filling power. I have felt your touch on my spirit, my heart, my mind, my soul and my whole being. Oh my goodness, how beautiful is your touch upon our lives. First, it is the recognition that you want to make a difference in our lives. Second, it is the awareness that you are present and desirous of altering our situation. Third, it is the actual reality of you filling us up with the healing agents of grace, love, mercy, compassion and peace. Fourth, it is the acceptance that our relationship is real, viable and ongoing. And finally, it is the fact that your filling is always available.
You have filled me up so many times I can no longer count. When I have been down and low, you have come and given me what I needed. When I have been broken, you have brought me your pitcher of living water and the healing ointment to put on my wounds. When I have been afraid, confused and doubtful, you have been present to speak a word of hope. Your pitcher is always full, waiting for our need, our desire for help and our acceptance to present itself and you pour.
Blessed God,
thank you
for your
filling power
and the
oil of gladness
that we experience
to thank you.
You are God;
my precious Lord,
there is none
like you.
Come, Holy Spirit,
and fill us.
Love always, Andrea
