Dear God,
Waiting seems so long, tedious and ineffective; yet, waiting gives us opportunity to pause, to reflect upon what we do know and to take your hand while we journey together waiting. Out of all the spiritual practices, it may be the most important exercise of our life.
Waiting is an active exercise. During our waiting time, we can breathe in the air of your love. We can practice trusting you more. We can count our blessings. We can do an inventory of our faith and how we want it to increase and grow. We can take walks, gaze upon creation, smile at strangers, give our best to someone else and live in hope that is ever present. Waiting is not lost time but rather a beautiful time with our creator.
Teach us
the value
of waiting,
O God.
Like Mary,
your mother
who waited
for your birth.
Like Peter
who waited
for your
Holy Spirit.
Like Paul
who waited
while in prison,
during shipwrecks
and dire situations.
Like Job
who waited
during great loss.
Teach us
the value
of waiting,
O God.
Love, Andrea
