Dear God,

When company comes to visit, we usually dress up, straighten our house and prepare for the special time.  But how good it is to know we can remain lying in our bed with our home a wreck in order to have time with you.  We do not have to change ourselves for sharing, listening, weeping, celebrating or complaining.  We can meet right now, this way with you.  You wait for us.

Historically we dressed up for worship on Sunday mornings.  We thought that was what we needed to do to show our best to you.  However, that only set us up to believe we had to be in our finest to come to you.  What happened is we rarely came to you because we were never prepared.

In this day and age we need to come to you as we are.  We are full of anxiety, worry, doubt and fear.  Our nation is so divided and every home is suffering with something.  We need you now more than ever!  And I know you still wait for us.

Blessed God,
thank you
for accepting us
as we are.
Thank you
for waiting
on us
and sometimes
for a
very long time.
Please forgive us.
Show us
the way
to you.

Yours, Andrea
