Dear God,

The moment I heard her thick accent on the phone, I knew who it was.  There was so much joy coming from the phone.  Matilda called to tell me she had finally received her green card.  More concerned for her children than herself, she had made sure they had become US citizens before her.  But today when she was awarded her green card, she just had to call to celebrate with me.

Although she said I had sowed a seed of faith in her, I knew the truth that her faith was always deeper and wider than my own.  When she prayed aloud, everyone fell quiet because we all knew her faith came from such a deep place.  We wanted to be near her God and indeed we were.

Today as we talked, we said we were singing a victory song after many hard years.  We knew to whom we sang our praise.

Holy God,

thank you

for faith,

especially the faith

of Matilda.

Thank you

for her faithfulness

and her joy.

Thank you,

Blessed God,

for being

our God.
