Dear God,
You sat among us at our weekly staff meeting. When I invited the staff to share the ways they had seen your face during Holy Week, each one shared a powerful display of your loving presence.
We are hungry for such revelations. We desire to know that what we know is a tiny smidgen of what is available to know. We want to become more and more aware of your mighty power in the world. We want to work with you by becoming symbols of your hope and compassion. We want to walk beside you, watching and listening as you point the way.
Holy Week was an amazing experience of holy walking. We came together simply to be with you. We wanted to check once again to see if the story was really true and relevant for today. As you painted the picture in our minds, each one of us could see the reality of faith and trust. We sat and grappled for the deepest experience. We wept; we smiled. We deepened.
O Lord,
let us walk
beside you
always.
When we
are tempted
to walk away,
remind us
what we
may lose
along the way.
Hold tightly
our hands
and our hearts
so that when
walking away,
we will feel
the sting
of loss
and want
to return.
Love, Andrea
