Dearest God,
It seems a song is just a song unless you are part of it. Songs that inspire people to faith are songs of a different color.
I sing in the choir because you gave me a love for music, music that stirs the soul. Lyrics, melodies and harmonies that impart hope, grace, devotion, and trust, I am convinced, are the songs of heaven. When I sing them, I feel my own soul's welcome.
I love processing down the aisle during the opening hymn on Sundays because my eye is on the cross and the altar, signs of your presence and your love. I lift my eyes high to see the cross because there is nothing that speaks more dramatically of agape love. I gaze upon the altar because it reminds me that I stand on holy ground. I am taken in because you call me to a high standard of living as one who bears your name.
Generally I smile when I sing because music has a powerful influence upon my life. Not only do I get to sing the songs of faith, I get to tuck away the words, your message for the world. I carry them with me, often humming or singing phrases that bolster my resolve to love, honor and serve you. What joy fills my soul!
Let me
always sing
for you,
God Most High,
for you
are worthy
of all
my devotion.
I give
you thanks
for the privilege.
Love, Andrea
