Dear God,

Looking for the Light in the light is always a challenge for me.  As I seek out faith, I sometimes stumble around wondering if I will ever get it just right.  I want to be quick, swift, discerning.  I don't like waiting or missing opportunities to discover yet another layer of spirit life.

Last night we retreatants watched a child's film because it guided us toward a discussion of your radiant light.  The girl Rapunzel in the film is intrigued, mystified by the light that shines every year on her birthday.  Finally, she takes every risk to find it, to discover it for herself, to touch the light, and to let it transform her.

Following the film we shared how your light warms us, how it illumines and enlightens, and how it draws us closer in faith to you.  We realized that we have a longing within us that keeps us looking, anticipating, waiting, and celebrating.  We prayed that your light would shine during our retreat leading us into the depths of Christian faith.

O Lord,
Most High,
you are
the greatest.
Your light
makes me glad
I am alive.
I cling
to joy
as I trust
in you.

Love, Andrea
