Dear God,
Waiting is so hard! Waiting for healing, for help, for answers, for clear direction, for patience, or for reconciliation is so difficult. Yet, waiting gives us time to draw near, to trust, and to live life closer to you.
So often we want what we want NOW! We don't want to wait. We get so fixed on our "problem" that we miss opportunities to draw in slow breaths, to make an assessment of what we have on hand, and to take a divine walk. We miss time with you.
If we pull back a little and take stock of our "like" situations in the past, we find those are some of the sweetest moments in life. When we come to the realization that we do not have the power to control the universe and we let go of our need to manipulate, we are offered an invitation to wait with a Friend, one who knows there are valuable lessons to be learned, space and time to take a spiritual adventure, and ample openings to try new attitudes, thoughts, and behaviors. We can be in a much "richer" place when our answer comes.
Wise God,
thank you
for offering
unexpected gifts
in our
waiting time.
Thank you
for revealing more
to us
than we
asked for.
Thank you
for short jaunts
into the unknown,
the unfamiliar,
and the
unused paths.
Thank you
for guiding us
along our way.
Thank you, God,
for caring
for us
while we wait.
Love, Andrea
