Dearest God,
This morning I stood before my Christmas tree and gave thanks for the symbol of faith. I prayed with a thankful heart because I was grateful for the lessons I have learned the last couple of months. Then I began to cut its branches. Even then I was blessed when the sweet scent of pine wafted in the air. I smiled and shook my head once again acknowledging the wondrous way you bring joy to us.
After all the branches were cut, I sat down to write. I looked at the top of the stripped tree where the angel still stands reminding me how you watch over us. I let my eyes sweep through the room looking for more signs of faith. There they were, the manger scene, the bible, a burning candle, and even happy snowmen perched on the mantle, the piano, and around the room. I recognized once again how most anything can be a symbol of faith when we look through eyes of faith.
My heart
is full
of devotion
for you,
my God.
Thank you
for all
the signs
and symbols
of faith.
Thank you
for eyes
to see you.
Love, Andrea
