Dear God,

What is the point and purpose of a single human life?  What is it you want from each soul born?
Do you have a plan for each person on the face of the planet or is there some overall plan we each participate in?

My favorite scriptures are the psalms.  The psalmists seem so human, so real to me.  They offer up conversations between you and themselves.  They argue, plead, confess, pray, and praise.  They tell you their problems and fight for liberation.  They seek you out sharing their most intimate feelings. They lift up their concerns and ask for your help.  They believe in you, your majesty, and your ability to love and help them.  They offer up prayer not only for themselves but for their nation and leaders.  Is the book of psalms an example of a single life of faith?

How do we know if we are achieving your goals for our lives?  How do we interpret our peace, our contentment?  Is it your peace we are enjoying, therefore, we live in it and give praise?  Or can our peace simply be a ineffectual way of saying no to anything else?

How can we know we bring joy to you?  How do we earn the words of grace..."well done, good and faithful servant?"

O God,
help us
trust you
to lead us
to a
fulfilling life
of faith.
If faith
is what
parts us
from a
lackadaisical life,
then enlighten us
with your truth,
I pray.
Light our path
with holy light
so we
may know
whose light
we follow.
Then fill us
with gratitude
so we
may eternally
follow you.

Love, Andrea
