Dear God,
A simple five-minute meditation left us thinking and reflecting all day long while on retreat. The priest talked about how he begins each morning dipping his finger into holy water and making the sign of the cross. "I need to remember my baptism and who I am with Christ." He said.
Although I begin each day with prayer before I crawl out from under the covers, I realize I don't stop first to consider my baptism and how that free act makes me responsible not only to carry the name of Jesus but to love as he loves, to serve as he serves, and to live in faith with grace and compassion.
As we stepped forward in mass to receive the body of Christ, I became more aware of the countless gifts you give us. I breathed a prayer of thanksgiving expressing gratitude for my own baptism and my own need to remember who I am in Christ.
Holy Father,
thank you
for counting me
as one
of your own.
Thank you
for the reminder
and the
awesome responsibility
we have
to live
life carefully
in faith.
Yours, Andrea
