Dear God,
Forgiveness, a statement of faith, a measure of hope, and blessed peace. I read in a book somewhere that forgiveness is more for the person forgiving than the one who is forgiven. Forgiveness clears the soul of dark thoughts, lingering negative emotions, and weight that keeps the spirit down and bound. It allows the soul freedom to rise up, to breathe easier, and to enjoy the light of faith.
So why do we deny ourselves this gift? Why do we hang on to judgment, resentment, and bitterness? Why do we fail to surrender all that keeps us low and heavy laden?
I am guilty of holding on. I place obstacles in my way to prevent me from rebirth. I protect myself from hurt and disappointment. I fail to trust you...enough.
How can
you forgive me
if I fail
to forgive others?
How can I
resist you
when I know
what you have
to offer?
How can
I move
from this
safe, dark place
to the
riskier place
in the light?
Love, Andrea
