Dearest God,

Your spirit blows where it will.  Tonight it blew into Barlett Hall at Church on the Cape United Methodist Church.

You brought the idea during the pastor's sermon...a surprise party for my husband's 80th birthday.  I was looking to give "daily bread" to my husband, the kind of bread that nourishes the soul as well as the body.  I didn't know how until Pastor Ruth preached the word of the morning.  I felt the nudge of your Holy Spirit, said yes, gave thanks, and started planning right after the benediction.

From beginning to end it was if your spirit was making things happen.  With only nine days before the party people offered to help.  The program came together so easily.  The room was available.  Speakers said they were happy to share and give a gift, funny, silly, any kind of love gift.  A master of ceremonies agreed to serve.  A pianist promised to play.  A tunnel was formed where Harold would come through while the crowd sang his favorite college fight song.  By the time of the party tonight 75 gathered together.

The pastor said the room was filled with the Holy Spirit and it was.  From beginning to end your presence was known.  A group of neighborhood friends, Rotary members, church members from two churches, his lunch bunch, fourteen different representatives from 14 groupings stood and shared their love for my husband.  Every one exuded the joy of your spirit.

It may seem it was just a birthday party but it was so much more because you were there.

Loving God,
thank you
for your
amazing grace.
Thank you
for blessing
not only Harold
but all
who gathered
to share love.
Bless you,
Lord, bless you!

Love, Andrea
