Dear God,

You open the door to goodness when evil strikes.  You give your children the ability and capacity to see beyond color, background, political persuasion, economic status, and religious preference to reach out to help someone in need

Another mass shooting has occurred.  Why, we do not know.  We cannot imagine, O God.  Only you know the interior of the heart, mind, and soul of the shooter.  Only you know why he chose to kill and wound so many innocent people.  Only you know the ins and outs of your children.

Yet, in the midst of evil and darkness, your light sparked and shined.  Mercy, compassion, kindness, love, and sacrifice were born in perfect strangers who reached out risking their own lives to help others.  Friendship bonded people together.  The best in many rose up out of the horror to light the way.  Although we are focusing on all we can know about the murderer, it seems the more important news at the moment are the stories of so many people who came together to help.  Beautiful stories, stories of hope, grace, and faith have graced the air waves.  They are the stories that help us mend, reminding us love is always possible.

You are love,
O God;
you are
the author
and creator
of love.
You place
part of yourself
inside us
and that part
always has
the potential
to rise up
with good.
Thank you
for all
who responded
to your call
to love.

Always yours, Andrea
