Dear God,
This afternoon as I got closer to home having driven over a thousand miles in 36 hours, I realized our drive, yours and mine, had been a prayer drive. Without music or sound except for the noise of passing cars and trucks and wet pavement, we talked or I listened. I heard the joy of creation, inner urges of challenge and conviction and blessings of faith. Along the way, I never grew weary of your voice.
Years ago I could never drive more than an hour without getting tired or bored. I hated to drive and always hoped someone else would take the wheel so I could nap but something changed. Somehow, some way, some time you energized me with anticipation, presence and the divine now. You showed me things I was too dulled, too blind and too stubborn to see before. You drew my attention to you. You called up something deep inside and then you invited me for the ride, the drive and the thrill of your presence. What gifts you give us, O God, what gifts!
Thank you
for our
glorious drive,
O God.
Thank you
for safety,
attention and energy.
Thank you
for your
blessed creation
who always
sings your song.
Love, Andrea
