Dear God,

Our ultimate hope is in you, All-Loving and Powerful God.  While we may be able to manufacture hope in the moment, we cannot sustain hope that is small, shallow and fragile.  For hope to endure we must trust in you.

As we look at our world today, people in horrendous situations are declaring hope.  Their trust and faith in you buoy them up as they face great difficulties.  Their hope challenges the rest of us to have hope too. 

Merciful God,

increase our faith

and trust 

in you.

We long

to follow you

and to

hold fast

to the hope

you give us.

Teach us

to be strong

and resilient

during times

of testing.

Bless all

whose hope

gives hope

to all others.
