Dear God,
As I awakened early this morning, visions of blessings filled my soul. The Carmelite sisters, home-canned peaches, falling leaves, good doctors and more came to me. As I lay in bed, I quietly murmured my prayers of thanksgiving.
We need to regularly reflect upon our blessings because they are many. Although I didn't consciously begin thinking about holy gifts this morning, I realized you placed blessings on my mind then filled me with reasons to express my gratitude.
Regularly giving thanks cleans out wasteful thinking, jealous thoughts and trying difficulties. When we are saying thank you, we don't have much space for negative things. In fact, offering our gratitude changes how we feel and think. After praying we are free to go about our day with appreciation in our hearts and minds.
Thank you,
Compassionate God,
for filling
my mind
with good gifts.
As I
pondered all
your gifts,
I was glad
to give thanks
to the author
of every one.
Thank you,
Blessed God,
for reminding me
to give thanks.
Yours, Andrea
