Dear God,

How wonderful to celebrate the first day of Advent, 2023.  Once again we get to focus and talk about hope.  In a world where hope seems to be a crazy idea, we return to your living word to remember hope is a gift from you, one we can open anytime.  And when we do, our vision of reality is peppered with this gracious gift that makes the heart sing and the mind shift.  Hope is always a good idea!

Hope is not just a human concept but rather a divine promise.  When we hope, we trust.  We anticipate.  We look to you.  Hope does not give us our wish list rather it helps strengthen our inner core of faith.  Hope can get us out of bed, put a lift in our step and a smile on our face.  Hope can energize us to do what we thought we could not do.  Hope can sustain us until our situation changes or we change.

for renewing

our faith

and making 

us strong.

Teach us

to always trust

so hope

can have

a chance.
