Dear God,
I just borrowed a book entitled Just Mercy. It is a book about justice, one I will read with deep interest. However, the title has caught my attention. Just Mercy. What if I decided to make my life about mercy?
When I get into an argument with my husband, what if I offered mercy instead of judgement? What about the political mess in our country? What if I looked at those I dislike and thought about them through the eyes of mercy? What about the driver that cuts me off, the arrogant person who cuts in line at the store or the friend who embarrasses me? How might I change me and possibly them if I acted mercifully? What if our family made a decision to be a family of mercy? How might we change the world around us?
Holy God,
I desperately want
to be merciful.
I fail
over and
over again.
Please fill me
with divine mercy
that it
may overflow
out, down
and over
to others.
Love, Andrea
