Dearest God,
Remember...your word said, remember. You said remember me when you spoke with the disciples. Do this often, you said, in memory of me.
And so today our covenant group remembered. We reflected backwards, one year. What do we remember about your spirit work in our lives this last year? For more than an hour we hailed your name as we counted the ways and times you moved in and around us.
I believe one of the greatest gifts you have given me is the ability to experience you in daily life. Frequently you have taken me on walks through nature giving me opportunities to see more than what is on the surface. I may see a bare tree in winter but you reveal the wonder works that are occurring beneath the ground.
This last year when I was in the midst of a physical or emotional crisis, you whispered love to me and out of that faith was borne again. When all I could see was hopelessness, you birthed hope within me. When trust broke down, you built it back up by revealing to me the ingredients of trust which are faith, hope, prayer and love. You made me a recipient of your healing power.
Although I fail at times to live out of this miracle-working power, I know enough to return to you when I have strayed away with doubt or fear. I know whose power I need when I feel powerless. Today as we celebrated your marvelous grace, we whispered a prayer of gratitude.
Nothing is hidden
from your eyes,
O God;
we cannot
permanently run
away from you.
You are
ever present
to heal
and guide,
to love
and forgive,
to pour out mercy
and offer grace.
I give you
my heartfelt thanks.
You are God,
full of love
for all
your children.
Today I remember
and celebrate.
Love, Andrea
