Dear God,

As I wrote my daily letter to you, I watched out my front window and saw a baby chipmunk pop out of its tunnel in our front yard and run over to the front step and back again. The little critter repeated his action at least ten times. While I gazed upon this very small creature of nature I admired his golden honey color and his long brown and white stripes. He is beautiful.

The next thought that came to me was the spectacular mountains of New Mexico and how they reach high into the sky. Those red, yellow, cream, and brown craggy mountains are breathtakingly beautiful.

Only for a moment did I wonder what a chipmunk and mountain range had in common. I realized each were wearing the colors you designed for them. Each were doing exactly what they were made to do. Each were displaying their own natural beauty. Each are wondrous images of God whose love for the world and people are revealed every day.

As I have sought you out trying to learn the mysteries of life, you have shown me pictures of the divine. You have taught me to look for you every day. You have challenged me to explore the wonders of human living in the midst of the sacred. You have nudged me to step forward, to await the aha moments planted in your creative order. I am never disappointed. A chipmunk and mountain range, even they know you...aah!

Living God,
the gentle morning
brought me
glorious images
of life
with you.
My heart
overflowed with love.
Thank you,
thank you,
thank you.

Love, Andrea
