Dearest God,
Let's start at the end and work our way to the beginning! Tonight I dropped into bed full of gratitude for the beautiful day that had unfolded, brimming with incalculable gifts.
At dusk we stood on the grounds of the Portland Headlight, a place beaming with light on rocky shores. A plaque with the names of lighthouse keepers for 200 years rest silently on the wall outside the keeper's home. Imagine the ships, the lives of perhaps thousands of sailors saved by the light and holders of the light! Oh, my, Gracious Lord!
A community hymnsing with perhaps a thousand present in the Merrill Auditorium lifted us beyond the confines of the walls, ceiling, and roof. Easily we ascended together away from the rafters and all the worries and burdens of life that would hold us down. We soared as light as a feather, drinking in the beauty of your love, the hope of the ages, and all the joys that heaven affords.
In the morning we sang our way into worship in our small church on the cape. Singing our favorite songs and then worshipping you with friends in your spirit lightened loads, sparked optimism, and gave us pause to allow you to strengthen our faith, fill us with eternity's love, and challenge us to grab hold of wisdom that will lead us to fulfill your destiny for our lives.
I awakened in the morning to the cool air of Maine blowing across the bed with my beloved husband by my side. I began the day with a prayer of thanksgiving.
Gracious God,
Lover of My Soul,
to you
I bow down,
humbling myself
at your feet,
with so
much appreciation
of your presence
that reveals itself
in so
many ways.
I am
so grateful
for my life
with you,
so rich,
so wondrous,
so full.
Love always, Andrea
