Dearest God,
Why is pruning so hard to do? Why is it difficult to cut back, to take the knife to a perfectly good branch, and to see the cut edge, the wound?
I've seen beautiful plants that have not only survived the steel blade but thrived. I've also witnessed plants where no one made the slice. I've been on both ends of that.
Why are we resistant to your pruning power? Why do we fight being "cut back"? Why do we want to stay the same rather than be changed?
Make the cut,
O Lord,
shape us up
by wielding
the sword
that transforms.
Bring beauty
to us,
I pray.
Let your will
be done,
your design fashioned,
and your love
be known
in every level
of life.
Love, Andrea
