Dear God,

One of the great lessons you continue to teach me is one of deciding what I will perpetuate in the world.  Will I perpetuate hatred or bitterness?  Will I perpetuate ignorance, lies, or gossip?  Will I perpetuate negativity?  Or will I perpetuate love, understanding, positivity, and hope?

Making decisions how I will deal with personal disappointment, injustice, loss, and hurt is very important to me because I know it is important to you.  I know I can color the world with blame, judgment, bad attitudes, and mean-spirited behavior.  I can tell the world who has hurt me and build a case against them pulling troops together to support me.  But why?  What comes of coloring the world with darkness?  Why pull others down to where I am at times?  There are better ways to deal with all that happens to wound the soul.

If I can't trust your light to lead me out of darkness, what do I really have within me?  Why color the world with darkness when I can color it with the light?

Your light
lifts me
out of darkness,
O God.
Your light
teaches me
your way.
Your light shines
more brightly
when I live
in the light
than when
I live
in the darkness.
Let your light
remind me
I too am
to be light
for the world.
Thank you
for the lesson.

Love, Andrea
