Dear God,

You have a wonderful way of drawing us back to you.  Sometimes we wander off, not so much to reject or resist you but rather just to do our own thing.  Often we do not think of you.  But then, someone or something will trigger a reaction in us and suddenly, we are flooded with a memory, a song, an act or deed, a prayer, a thanksgiving, or even an unexpected mercy.  We don't have to run to you because you keep up with us all along the wandering way.

In the hectic busyness of my day today, somewhat irritable and impatient, I remembered the desert.  I recalled many desert thoughts and celebrated your countless many offerings.  I thought of your generosity, kindness, and compassion.  I stopped what I was doing and breathed in your spirit realizing there was no need for my irritability and impatience.

You drew me back this afternoon and I paused to give you thanks.

Holy God,
thank you
for compassionate power
than can
convert us.
Thank you
for drawing me
to your side.
Thank you
for reminding me
of living grace.

Love, Andrea
