Dear God,

Why do we resist you?  Why do we pray for your will and then resist it?

I am a hold out.  I realize I hold out hoping your will and mine will merge.  When they do not, I realize more than ever why your will is better than my own.

Your will is always better than human will.  Your will influences more people than our own.  Your will can change the human heart, mind, and soul.  Your will shows great love.  Your will clears spiritual and emotional debris, sometimes even physical clutter.  Your will cleanses the soul and the spirit.  Your will enables us to move on.  Your will reaps benefits beyond what we are able to pull together.  Your will strengthens faith and resolve.  Your will teaches courage.  Your will opens the door to new ideas.  Your will offers hope.  Your will produces peace, joy, praise, and thanksgiving.

Why would we choose any will but yours?

Holy God,
giver of many gifts,
teach us
to open ourselves
to you.
Help us pause
to consider
your ways
and your will.
Show us
the path
to a valuable,
meaningful and
joyous life.
