Dear God,
How can we not feel for our brothers and sisters impacted by war, poverty, injustice, oppression, and natural disasters? How can we not feel sorrow and pain with them? How can we not do something to bring relief?
You have given us hearts, minds, and souls. You have connected us together as one people. You have given us compassion that kicks in when we hear of struggle anywhere in the world. You mean for us to be moved by each other's pain. You want us to emotionally respond when someone is hurt. You want us to give.
You bless us immeasurably when we are pained by sending angels unaware. It may be a gift of service. It may be a reassuring smile. It may be a meal, a prayer, a financial gift. Knowing someone cares begins the sometimes long process of healing and mending the whole of our person. Helping others, alleviating pain, or bringing comfort can bless not only the hurting individual but also the helper. You want us to care for one another.
Blessed Lord,
thank you
for connecting us
with the rest
of the world.
Thank you
for brothers
and sisters
near and far.
Thank you
for your ministry
of caring.
Love, Andrea
