Dear God,
In my daily search for you, I stumbled upon a beach read, a simple novel set on Egret Island. As I read, the author penned the way an egret carries light upon her back. I paused in my reading realizing that light pointed me to your light.
The light is perhaps my most sacred spiritual symbol. I am always intrigued by the way light shines out of darkness. Because it is your light that radiates, I am drawn to its inherent mystery. Your light warms, heals, hopes, deepens, sharpens, strengthens, guides, helps, and so much more.
As the story led me to you, you asked the question, "How do you carry the light?" As a contributor to human life, indeed how do I carry the light? It's a fair question. If you give us light, you expect us to shine it. We are not meant to hoard the light or put it under a bushel as the bible tells us rather we are to radiate the light of your son. We are to shine for the whole world to see. We are designed to give warmth, hope, guidance, help, and love because, after all, love is what permeates light into the world and is what shines when light is revealed.
Great Light of the World,
shine, shine, shine.
Help our light
to radiate
your light.
Heal us,
O Lord,
heal our world
with your light,
I pray.
Love, Andrea
