Dear God,
Reveling in a joyous event is a wondrous gift from you. The ability to remember, to lift up happy moments, and to celebrate together are gifts in and of themselves.
Yesterday morning following a surprise party that was birthed out of a sermon on the Lord's Prayer, my husband, grandson, and I laid on our bed for nearly five hours sharing beautiful bits and pieces from the party as well as family issues where we all had concerns. Realizing we had already missed breakfast and lunch, we went downstairs and cooked a brunch and then sat at the kitchen table for three more hours talking and sharing.
Being with our grandson after an absence of three years gave us cause to give thanks. He too was an idea you gave to me, flying him across country to surprise my husband on his 80th birthday. Seeing him in the flesh as he popped out of the closet into the waiting arms of his grandfather was a spectacular beginning to a fantastic party.
As the day drew to an end, we were still giving thanks to you, our good and gracious God.
Thank you
for your
many gifts,
O Lord.
Thank you
for bringing us together
and giving us time
to share together.
Thank you
for memory
that lives
and breathes
for many years
to come.
Love always, Andrea
