Dear God,
Soon I will be 70 years old. I can hardly believe it. I remember when my grandmother was 70 and my mother. Now me.
Several years ago you gave me opportunity through breast cancer to count my blessings, to let go of the stigma of age, and to regard every day as a gift. Each morning before I rise I begin my gratitude prayer.
Often we get mired in all the things we do not have rather than celebrate all we do. Although we may suffer from an illness or have a difficult job or situations don't go the way we hope, still we are blessed because you are always with us. You give us family, food, and abilities to work and play. You teach us valuable life lessons and you promise your presence with us always. You make a place for us in this world no matter our age, condition, or situation.
Thank you,
O Lord,
for this
God-given day.
Thank you
for every day.
Thank you
for gratitude
that swells
our heart
with love
for you.
Love always, Andrea
