Dear God,

One of my favorite aunts died this morning.  I saw her at the hospital just yesterday.  I told her I loved her.  I told her goodbye.

How do we let go of loved ones?  How do we end our time with them?  How do we live without them in our lives? 

You have placed special people in our lives.  They may stay with us for decades or maybe just a short time but you weave them into our lives in such a way that we cannot unweave them.  They stay with us forever as gifts of your spirit.  Every time we think of them we can give thanks ultimately ending up at your door.  As we live lives of gratitude they remain with us like the air we breathe.

Holy Spirit God,
thank you
for the gift
of relationships
that nurture
and nourish us.
Thank you
for love
that never ends.
Thank you
for blessing us
with memories
that live
day in
and day out.
