Dear God,
There is so much joy in sacred silence, that quietness of faith where you are revealed, where your gifts lie waiting, where your challenge speaks volumes, where hope, peace, and grace reside, and finally where salvation unfolds its mystery. That divine silence is not only the absence of sound, it is a quietude of faith that is sweet, beautiful, and hope-filled.
This morning as I read my devotions, I felt myself slip into the world of faith. For there are moments of time where I lay my faith aside to behave in ways that do not honor and glorify you. I give in to my lower nature, to be irritable, hopeless, angry, resentful, and bitter. But then morning breaks and the light shines through. I bow my head in humble surrender because more than anything I want to walk with you, sup with you, praise with you, serve with you, and sing with you. I want your will over my own.
The battle for my loyalty is always with me. I don't seem to be able to let go sometimes and I am always sorry. I want to be fiercely loyal to you, to carry my faith into every circumstance, and to do your will without equivocation. Show me the way, dear Lord, show me the way.
Loving God,
thank you
for the gift
of faith,
for sacred silence,
and for
the relationship
you offer.
Thank you
for confession,
repentance,
and pardon.
Thank you
for new beginnings.
Love always, Andrea
