Dear God,
My granddaughter Sophie asked to spend the night and, of course, I said yes. Last night we played cards and started watching a movie before she fell asleep to get up early for school this morning.
When I rose before dawn, I stepped outside to greet the new day. The temperature was 58 degrees. The air was fresh and refreshing. I breathed in the life-giving air. I got Sophie up and we left before 6:30 to pick up donuts and get to school. On the way the sun began to peek up over the horizon. It was so beautiful. I said to Sophie, "Aaahhh, it is an amazing new day. Everything is new, brand new. It is like a new creation. And we are too. Today is a new day, opportunity for beginning again, starting over like the very first day." She smiled and I smiled too.
O God,
hope of the world,
thank you
for every
new day.
Thank you
for painting
a brand new canvas
every morning.
Thank you
for gifts
of prized moments
with grandchildren.
Love, Andrea
