Dear God,
We remained in vigil all day at my nephew's bedside until this evening when at 10:00 p.m. we said our goodbyes as the organ donation team took him for surgery to remove his kidneys and liver to save three very sick people. I had to gently peel my sister away from her son's bed and help her to a waiting wheelchair to aid her getting back to the car with her husband. Minutes later I had to softly talk Jason's sister into letting go of the window that peered into the hospital room. I drove out of the hospital parking lot about 10:30 p.m. Thoughts of the day replayed in my weary mind.
You are
our only hope,
Living God.
When our hearts
are broken
into so many
tiny pieces,
we cry out
to you.
You hear
our cries
and see
our tears.
You give us strength
to stand
and keep
on walking.
Love, Andrea
