Dear God,

Once the area was thick with tangled cow rose hedges, thorns the size of what?  Something very big.  Six feet high and 10 feet deep, it looked ominous, threatening.  No one wanted to go close.

But then...we cut, tore down, dug out roots, cleared the area of debris, raked, brought in a little dirt, spread it out, and planted.  Transformed as part of a spiritual path, it is inviting, beautiful, and a rare piece of heaven on earth.

If only the human cleaning and clearing was as easy.

Blessed Lord,
you teach us
valuable lessons.
You want us
to learn
from you.
You take nature
at its worst
and make it
nature at
its best.
Clean and clear us,
we pray.
