Dear God,
Often it does not matter what the scripture reading is, the sermon or the hymn selections, it is just good to be in your house for the sole purpose of worship. Although our group is small still the large sanctuary feels full because it is full of you.
Many times we gather for worship, greet our friends, sing songs, pray and listen and then leave without taking into account the priceless gift of your glorious presence. We forget whose presence we are in, not just the preacher's or our friends or visitors but rather the living presence of the Holy One. If we did, we would be nearly breathless, on our knees or prostrate on the floor, silent, weeping and full of humble joy. But the truth is your holy presence fills the sanctuary every Sunday!
God of grace and God of glory,
thank you
for the
gift of
your holy presence.
Forgive us
when we
take you
for granted.
We are simple,
self-centered people
looking to
fill ourselves
rather than gather
to offer you
our praise.
This morning
I offer you
all my thanksgiving.
Love, Andrea
