Dear God,

Tonight we rose to the level of heaven as we gathered together as one people to worship, praise and give you thanks for dozens of newly committed catechumens.  Prepared to give their lives afresh to your son, we laid our hands on them to pray for your blessing.  As one body we soared on the wings of your spirit.

It is true when your people come together, your spirit comes enlivening us for praise.  We sang songs in Spanish and English, remembering we are different and yet the same.  We listened to the word from Acts and Luke.  We reveled in the retelling of the stories of faith.  We knew once again why we have faith and live it in daily life.

But the one high holy moment was when my daughter Jennifer stepped out of her pew and into the arms of Jesus for her blessing.  I remember giving birth to her, listening to her first cry and whispering a prayer to her and for her in her first minutes of life.  This wonderful woman of 48 whispered her own prayer of faith as she bowed and waited for the blessing.  I felt my own faith rise higher and higher as I observed Jesus lay his hands on her head and pray.

Holy and Wondrous God,
thank you
for the gift
of faith,
for the beauty
of worship
and the joy
of Holy Communion.
Thank you
for my Jenni
and her ministry
of love.
Thank you
for touching us all tonight.

Love always, Andrea
