Dear God,
Worship is like being invited to a special friend's home, welcomed to their table, given special hospitality and food and beverage to drink. It is a time to hug, shake hands, listen, laugh, share, cry if it is needed, and fill up on all the good offerings. When we leave we are full up.
Worship is simply a perfunctory gesture unless we step inside the welcome door. To imagine that it is imaginary is to stop short of visiting the real place. If we acknowledge it is the home of our most beloved Jesus and really believe we have come to meet him, only then can we travel to holy places in worship. The music will sound different, the liturgy will come alive, the scripture will become vivid, the Eucharist will become real, and the presence of our living God will be evident.
I have tried both. I've spent a lot of time talking and worshipping as an outsider but when I really paused and understood the significance of the call to worship, I suddenly realized I was at the home of my Lord.
All praise
to you,
Lord and King.
Thank you
for the blessing
of faith.
Thank you
for worship
and a
place at
your table
and home.
Love, Andrea
