Dearest Lord,
Lessons come in so many ways and those with faith will find them valuable and meaningful. One of those lessons came my way today.
I have listened and followed those holy insights when selecting items for your spiritual hermitage. Each time I was led to something, I was amazed at the value and the low cost. I had work to do on each piece. They were all dirty, dusty, scratched, dinged and unwanted. So I went to work. I washed them down with Murphy's Oil Soap. I let them dry and washed them again. Then I pulled on my gloves and stained the wooden treasure. After minutes I wiped it down. I let it dry. And then I simply stood back and reveled in the beauty that appeared.
The spiritual life is like that too, thus the lesson. We can become pretty messed up. We have dings and scratches. Dust and dirt accumulates filling our vessels with yuck. We fail to clean ourselves up. Our self value can dip and we can begin to feel unwanted. But you, yes you, you claim us as your own. You set about the cleaning process. You sweep and clean, open the windows and doors to our soul and add ointment for healing. You feed us and bring us back to health. You look at us and in your eyes we see our value once again. And the process renews and restores our faith and joy.
You, Holy God,
teach us lessons
every day.
We find ourselves needy
at times.
We don't always
take good care
of ourselves.
We need you.
Thank you
for guiding us home.
Thank you
for renewal,
restoration and revitalization.
Love always, Andrea
