Dear God,

There are moments when I feel on shaky ground.  I don't always know why.  I just feel the ground beneath me shaking.

We do not live in a perfect world.  Our lives are never perfect.  Everything can be just fine and then not fine.  Our perspectives can change, our views can shatter, all that we know to be solid can begin to give way.  Perhaps that has always been your plan.  Perhaps we are meant to live on shaky ground because we need to be fluid in faith not locked in to what may temporary or inauthentic.  Shaky ground is the call to draw close and not fear.  It is the challenge to hang on to that which we know is good and true and loving.  Riding out the storm increases our trust, faith and hope.

Loving God,
call us closer.
Make us
more sure
of you
and ourselves.
Help us be
so united
to you
that we welcome
shaky ground
knowing the challenge
is yours.
