Dear God,

Our world is languishing, dear Father.  There is so much pain and sorrow.  It is as if we live in a world of darkness.  Yet, your light shines daily.  You promised your Light would always shine even when we attempted to snuff it out.  We need your light more than we need our own.

And what is that light?  It is the eternal light that shines from everlasting to everlasting.  It warms, engenders hope, gives love, offers peace and welcomes.  All things we need so much, all of us, not just some.  And what happens when we receive it?  We become light too.  We can carry that light with us everywhere we go.  We too can warm and love and give and help and offer and comfort.  And for your sake, why would we not want to?

Help us,

guide us,

O God.

Help us 

first see

the light

and then

become the light.

Help us shine

for all

to see,

not for show

but for healing,

reconciliation and love.
