Dear God, 

In these quiet moments, silence allows me to listen for your voice.  I can hear your promises.  I can feel your love.  I can know you are with me.  When I get busy or distracted, I cannot find you.  Only in silence is there space for fellowship, confession, mercy, love and joy.

Advent gives me more silence than usual.  The Christmas lights whisper, "Be still and know God."  The decorations say, "Celebrate the One who has come and is coming."  Christmas music sings, "There is cause for joy!"  Gaily wrapped packages or Christmas bags I have made, candies and goodies on the table and Christmas novels and movies all lead me to you where silence can once again prevail bringing greater, more beautiful moments together.
