Dear God,
Some things seem so broken that we believe they can never be repaired, put back together. Today I discovered that is not always true. Sometimes, maybe.
Several members of my mother's family have been estranged for several decades. But today five of us, three first cousins, a son of one of them and a daughter of a missing cousin in Florida came together to spend 24 hours with one another. Seemed odd after so many years; yet, at the same time it felt healing, therapeutic and meaningful.
We filled in cracks to help us better understand our brokenness. We all shared old/new pieces of information with one another. Although at times they made us sad, it gave perspective of our shared pain. We also agreed to be family again, to not allow anything to get in the way of our love for one another. We vowed to never be estranged again.
Healing can
only happen
with you,
Gracious God.
We just
do not
always possess
the tools
of healing.
Today we
saw you
and one another
and found peace
and hope.
Yours, Andrea
