Dear God,

I don't know the name of the tree just outside our study windows.  I just know in the spring it gives delicate pink blossoms, in the summer a haven of branches for bird nesting and in the Autumn thousands of little red berries that robins, bluebirds, cardinals, blue jays and Carolina chickadees love to eat.  How wonderful to know you provide for the birds of the air.

But then you provide for your flock of humans too.  When we sit cozy in our homes on a cold, windy day, we know you provide shelter, the wind and the sunshine.  Such times are always exceptional times to offer gratitude and prayers of thanksgiving.

Today is
that day,
Loving God,
a day
for me
to say
thank you.
Thank you
for every gift
I see
outside my window.
Thank you too
for mercy
for all things
that are
not well
within us.

Love, Andrea
