Dear God,

Today the church celebrates Epiphany, the day the wise ones came to visit Mary and Joseph in the stable.  Following the bright star in the sky, they found the baby.  They knelt and gave them gifts.  They were inspired, rethought their mission and changed their minds.  They went home by a different route other than the one Herod wanted them to travel so he could kill the child God.  Jesus was saved and so were we.
It is a perfect day to consider our own gifts, those we have received and those we give.

Although my life is not what I want it to be for various reasons, I do know I am blessed by the one and only God who blesses just because.  I look around in my favorite season of winter and I am oohhed and aahhed by the incredible beauty all around me.  Snow, inches thick, butt up against our house and I could simply open the window and touch it, all one zillion flakes.  I love it, every tiny flake.

The question I face today is what gifts will I give others?

Holy God,
I want
to be
a true
blue follower
of yours
in every way.
But the
truth is
I hold back.
Yes, I give
but not fully
the way
you desire.
May I grow
in acceptance,
love and friendship
with those
whom I disagree.

Yours, Andrea
