Dear God,

Fear is on the rise in our country and around the world.  People are losing their jobs.  People are losing their food source through food banks.  People are losing their freedom.  People are losing their medical assistance.  People are losing, Lord, people are losing their hope and their peace.

Perhaps the better way to say it is there are those who are taking away jobs, food, freedom, medical assistance as well as hope and peace.  In a society whose purpose and mission it has been to take care of its people, we wonder what kind of society we are becoming.

You said to care for the poor, the widows, the stranger and the foreigner.  You said to love your neighbor and your enemies.  How does any of this fulfill your will for all your people?  Only fear can come but not only that when people lose hope, they lose much more. 

Help us,

Lord,

to help

each other.

Stop the bloodletting,

we pray.

Remake us

in your image,

character and love.
